Biden Vows To Keep Marijuana Illegal – Right After Pew Reveals 80% Of Liberals Want Legalized

First, Biden said China wasn’t a threat – until suddenly it was.

Next, he backpedaled over his longstanding support for a ban on federally funded abortions.

Now, the former Vice President is setting himself for yet another flip-flop after announcing that he won’t legalize Marijuana if elected president, saying there isn’t “enough evidence” as to “whether or not it is a gateway drug.”

Biden was speaking at a Las Vegas town hall on Saturday when he said there had “not nearly been enough evidence” to confirm whether marijuana was a gateway drug, evidence he said he would need before supporting federal legalization.

“The truth of the matter is, there’s not nearly been enough evidence that has been acquired as to whether or not it is a gateway drug,” Biden said. “It’s a debate, and I want a lot more before I legalize it nationally. I want to make sure we know a lot more about the science behind it.” –Business Insider

Except, most Americans – especially Democrats (and left-leaning independents) say marijuana should be legal.

According to a Pew Research poll released last Thursday:

Two-thirds of Americans say the use of marijuana should be legal, reflecting a steady increase over the past decade, according to a new Pew Research Center survey. The share of U.S. adults who oppose legalization has fallen from 52% in 2010 to 32% today.

Meanwhile, an overwhelming majority of U.S. adults (91%) say marijuana should be legal either for medical and recreational use (59%) or that it should be legal just for medical use (32%). Fewer than one-in-ten (8%) prefer to keep marijuana illegal in all circumstances, according to the survey, conducted Sept. 3 to 15 on Pew Research Center’s American Trends Panel. –Pew

What’s more, 78% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents say that marijuana use should be legal, while just 55% of Republicans and Republican leaning voters say the same.

Analyzing by age, Millennials, Gen X, and Baby Boomers (born from 1946 – 1980) support legalization – leaving the ‘silent generation’ of those born between 1928 and 1945 the least supportive of legalization at just 35%.

In other words, Biden is pandering to people in their mid-70’s and older.

Let’s see if he flip-flops on yet another longstanding position…

We found old footage of Joe Biden railing against marijuana legalization. His views don’t seem to have changed much in the decades since. https://t.co/NwJBJWP1Hp pic.twitter.com/AkwL6xTJbx
