In response to two mass shootings that left 29 people dead within the last 24 hours, Democrats are demanding Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell bring the Senate, which is on a month-long recess, back in session to vote on gun control legislation.

Patrick Wood Cruisis, opened fire at a Walmart Saturday and massacred 20 people and wounded 25 more, in a case federal authorities are treating as domestic terrorism. Federal authorities will also pursue hate crime and firearm charges after it was revealed that Cruisis targeted hispanic immigrants.

Hours after another incident in El Paso, 24-year-old Connor Betts opened fired in the streets of Dayton, Ohio Sunday morning, killing nine people, including his 22-year old sister. Public records indicate that Betts was registered to vote, listing his party affiliation as Democrat, and photographs of the shooter indicate he was a satanist.

The patches he’s wearing are from a known satanist apparel company. One of them reads “against all gods”. This is a culture problem. A godless culture of death with no respect for life. https://t.co/IsOSdFHSqy

Democrats are asking McConnell to call Senate back to vote
on a background check bill passed by the Democratic-controlled House in
February.

Rep. Harley Rouda (D-CA) blamed the NRA and second amendment supporters for the massacres.

I’m heartbroken and disgusted.

Thoughts and prayers from NRA apologists in Congress are insulting to victims. Their silence is deafening— It makes them permissive, even complicit in this epidemic.

It’s time for a special session of Congress to make this mass shooting the last.

El Paso, Dayton, one awful event after another. @SenateMajLdr McConnell must call the Senate back for an emergency session to put the House-passed universal background checks legislation on the Senate floor for debate and a vote immediately.

— Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) August 4, 2019

Mitch McConnell should bring the Senate back into session immediately to pass HR 8, the gun safety bill that has already passed the House. That’s a first step to addressing our serious gun violence epidemic.

— Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) August 4, 2019

The “squad” leader, Alexandria Cortez warned McConnell must “explain
to the people why” he hasn’t called for a vote on the gun control legislation.

The House passed HR8, a Bipartisan Background Checks Act, *5 months ago* and the Senate has yet to vote on it.

It was one of our 1st major priorities after ending the gov shutdown.

You’ve been sitting on it since February giving bogus excuses.

Care to explain the people why? https://t.co/l5ZSDyPyWw

In addition to issuing calls for more gun control measures, Democrats are pouncing on the mass shootings for political purposes, insisting that the killing sprees were prompted by President Trump and his rhetoric and claiming the attacks are proof the president is stoking racial division.

While Betts is a registered Democrat, the media is coordinating to portray Cruisis as a “far-right Trump supporter.”

However, in a so-called “manifesto” titled “Economic Reasons,” which investigators say was written by Cruisis, the shooter explicitly expresses his support for openly socialist policies, including universal income, socialized medicine and a belief in “global warming.” He expressed disdain for Democrat’s open border policies, but also declared “the Republican Party is also terrible” because it is “pro-corporation” and “pro-corporation = pro-immigration.”

In the manifesto, Cruisis said he chose a gun-free zone as
his target for obvious reasons.

“Remember: it is not cowardly to pick low hanging fruit. AKA
Don’t attack heavily guarded areas to fulfill your super soldier COD fantasy.
Attack low security targets,” he wrote. “Even though you might out gun a
security guard or police man, they likely beat you in armor, training and
numbers.”
