Three members of the “Squad,” freshman congresswomen representing the communist wing of the already far left Democrat party, reportedly plan to endorse Sen. Bernie Sanders in the socialist lawmaker’s second bid for the White House.
Ocasio-Cortez, the Bronx-Queens politician famous for her
extreme ignorance of the U.S. Constitution, is slated to appear alongside Sanders
at a “Bernie’s Back” rally in her district on Saturday, according to the Washington
The Sanders campaign is hosting the rally specifically to ignite
excitement for his candidacy after he suffered a heart attack earlier this
month at a campaign fundraiser in Las Vegas.
The 78-year old’s three-day hospitalization, where doctors reportedly inserted two stents in a blocked artery, was followed by days of silence from the candidate and his advisers regarding his heart trouble, fueling speculation about his health.
Ocasio-Cortez’s socialist sister, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) threw her support behind Sanders Tuesday night in a statement posted on Twitter by the Vermont senator’s campaign.
“Bernie is leading a working class movement to defeat
Donald Trump that transcends generation, ethnicity and geography,” she declared,
according to the statement. “I believe Bernie Sanders is the best
candidate to take on Donald Trump in 2020,” Omar added.
The congresswoman, who has regularly made headlines for espousing anti-Semitism since taking office, retweeted the statement on her own Twitter page.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) will reportedly also endorse Sanders, Fox News confirmed. However, it has yet to determine whether all three congresswomen will tout their support of the socialist presidential candidate at the rally Saturday.
The endorsement of Sanders by the anti-Semitic, socialist “Squad,” which has become the face of the Democrat party, would be a slap in the face to Sander’s rival, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). Warren has amassed a commanding lead in the polls, prompting her to become the target of attacks waged by multiple candidates during Tuesday night’s Democratic debate in Ohio.
Ocasio-Cortez, who proclaims herself a genuine socialist, was rumored to have favored Warren initially, the Washington Examiner notes, but had a change of heart after Warren disavowed Democratic socialism.
Support from the “Squad” also gives Sanders a competitive advantage in the Democratic field among young voters, who predominantly have a favorable view of socialism. Despite the 100 million innocents murdered by Marxist-Leninist or Stalinist-Marxist regimes in the 20th century, “four in ten Americans are proponents of some form of socialism,” according to a Gallup poll released in May.
According to a Harris Poll conducted in January, young voters have a more favorable view of the word “socialism” than previous generations, with 61 percent between the ages of 18 and 24 being more inclined to support socialist policies and principles. Meanwhile, Gen Z and millennials, are projected to make up 37% of the electorate in 2020 according to a recent Pew Research Center study.
The Democrat Party, led by the socialist “Squad”, now stand for open borders, amnesty for illegal aliens, sanctuary cities and states, the abolition of ICE, redistribution of income, health care and insurance for illegal aliens, free college, elimination of student debt, a green deal that would eliminate autos with gas combustion engines, reparations, and regulation of carbon emissions that would destroy our economy, American Thinker columnist J. Marsolo aptly notes.
“These programs,” he argued, “would require a massive
increase in the federal administrative state to control and regulate the
economy and how people live and massive tax increases.”
