NEW YORK POST:
Vandals at a French zoo caused an uproar this week after scratching their names into the hide of an elderly rhinoceros, according to a report from London’s Evening Standard.
The 35-year-old rhino, Noelle, was found with the named Camille and Julien inscribed into her skin. The names were written on a layer of dead skin and mud and the rhino likely didn’t feel a thing, the zoo director said.
The incident took place at the La Palmyre around 300 miles south of Paris.
“The park’s management is obviously outraged by the stupidity. The registration was quickly erased with the help of a brush and did not cause any discomfort to the animal,” the zoo said in a statement after the incident.
